Every professional is in a unique situation: different goals and timelines, personalities and team dynamics, organizational norms and culture, etc. You are the only one that can know best what can work in your situations - but it can be difficult to find guidance, frameworks, tools, and perspective as you navigate day-to-day and major disruptions all at once.


That's where SIMPLER Leadership comes in. After four years in PhD leadership courses, time as a mayor and civic leader, nonprofit executive, and assistant professor in leadership studies, I am ready to share the most important lessons and most impactful support I can with a select few leaders ready to level up their game.

OK, so what is SIMPLER Leader/ship?


SIMPLER stands for seven areas of individual leader development that I find are most critical - and completely within your control.

  • Self-Reflect: Regularly evaluate actions and decisions to learn and improve, fostering continuous personal growth and alignment with goals.
  • Integrity: Act with ethical judgment and align actions with personal and organizational values, ensuring consistent and trustworthy leadership.
  • Make Meaning: Create and communicate purpose, framing situations in useful ways to provide clarity and direction.
  • Prioritize: Focus on the most important tasks and goals, directing efforts toward high-impact activities.
  • Listen: Actively leave people feeling heard and understood, building trust, shared understanding, and strong working relationships.
